Thanks for exposing this charlatan. Now I know how she got in my pants so fast... and found my wallet.
Keep up the good work, Inspector!
Keith
As long as she delivers awesome content once you're there (and I know that Ali does), who cares why people buy the tickets, right?
Use the sizzle to get them in the door and the steak to keep them there!
cheers
Heather
We await the ex-ezine-queen's arrival and response - or lawsuit - whichever.
Rick
you are simply too damn funny! I'm pretty sure Ali will just chuckle and LHAO like I did. Mia said you deserved to be spanked for this and she's right but she said you might like that too much! lol

That guy surely knows how to present & pitch. Pickedup some of his & Jim Fleck's copywriting stuff, still going through it...so far some pretty good stuff in there.
Spoke to him once for a bit on the phone, seemed like a pretty decent guy that knows what works...and works it.

Here I go and Think You've Retired, then you come back with this. You Dirty Dog, I wish I'd of done something near as controversial. Maybe I can get a newspaper to publish my Cartoon Suggesting President Obama is a Chimp!
See the NYTimes Cartoon Controversy.
Great editing

She has a lot of true fans and of course, once you get big enough to have your own magazine - you know you have arrived when someone creates a parody video for ya!

Hysterical! Feel something BiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiG! lol! You know Ali is selling mostly to women too for her Million Billion dollar workshops. Guess feeling something BiiiiiG isn't gender specific! ;-)

I didn't get to see the video but from your description it was a "parody."
If it was neither YouTube nor Ali really understand the law as "parody" is a protected form of speech and as such you can use copyrighted material within the parody. The Supreme Court (SCOTUS) ruled in Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music that "parody" is a protected form of speech and because it is often used as a method for criticism that those creating the parody neither need to ask for nor have to be granted permission to use copyrighted materials within the parody. Because those that are being criticized or parodied would normally not give permission for the usage of the copyrighted material SCOTUS made it protected form of speech whereby normal intellectual property and copyright laws do not apply. Thus copyrighted material used within a parody falls into the "fair use" category.
You might aprise Ms. Brown and YouTube of this fact -- you can quote: Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music (92-1292), 510 U.S. 569 (1994) and point them to the following website: http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/92-1292.Z...
The fact is that YouTube is so gun shy that if someone sends in a copyright infringement thing - you are judged guilty until proven innocent.
This requires you to mail in a letter blah - blah - blah. It may as well say...
"Write your letter, print it out on 8 1/2 X 11 paper and then insert it in your shredder - because that is the last you'll ever see or hear from it again."
Perhaps I'll just upload the video into the members area of Scoundrel School because it IS darn funny.
No one famous enough to have her own magazine should be worried over petty little things like this video.
People think I do these things to start trouble or to whack big shot people on the nose as a way of getting PR.
Not true.
I try to use humor to highlight irony and to point out crazy stuff I see all around me. A magazine called Ali?
Kinda young, kinda wow ALEE! (think Charlie perfume)
You're gonna make it after alllllll....
Feel free to make a video about me any time just as long as you include the link to my website and/or talk about my product -- over and over (how many times on this post & in comments did you say there's now a magazine named Ali? I had no idea.).
I will never forget meeting you in person when I didn't like you at all from another video you did. (hmmm... a pattern?) And then after spending an entire evening hanging out & getting to know you I not only respect you, I find you hilariously funny and uber smart to boot with excellent values. I'm glad we're friends.
I agree with you-- you know you've made it big time when someone creates a parody video of you. The lesson here: always remember to not be so big in your britches as to forget to laugh at yourself. I do it every day. My britches are kinda funny.
Hugs,
Felicia

LOL
I'm going to do a show interview with you for my new Hot Seat w/ Rick Butts - and yes I will say your domain name over and over.
BTW: Make sure you have an image uploaded to gravatars.com that corresponds to the email address you use when you comment on blogs - that way your pic will show up instead of the sad little gray pawn next to your name...
Ali should send you a fruit basket... lined with money. Lawsuit? What is she thinking? "I want you to buy my 'something big' because of my mind, or face the lawyers," that just doesn't seem right after seeing the video.
You could become the 'Weird Al' of the Internet Marketing realm - people won't feel that they've "made it" until Rick Butts does a parody of them. More, more, MORE!

Thanks for the Gravatar tip-- I knew there was a way to get my pic uploaded.
Testing to see if it's working now...

If you used someone else's actual footage, I would think could be upsetting to the creator.
Now on the other hand if you hired an actor to imitate her such as a man in drag.... well now that is probably fair game. (disclaimer: I am obviously not an attorney, seek your own counsel)
I wish you and Ali the very best. Hope you two can resolve this, clear the air and be friends again.
Live Your Dreams,
Jill
